• Ami Canaan Mann

    Director

    Ami Canaan Mann attended USC School of Cinema/Television’s Production Program. She started screenwriting professionally with an episode of ‘NYPD BLUE’, ‘Tea and Sympathy’. In 2001, she wrote/co-produced the MOW ‘NANCY DREW’ for ABC and subsequently sold pilots to Imagine/Fox, DiNovi/Spelling/CW and Micheal Douglas/CBS. In 2001, she began writing for studios and developed features at Disney, New Line, WB and 20th.

    Ami began directing television with an episode of ‘RHD’ in 2003. In 2010, her ‘FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS’ episode ‘I Can’t’ received a Television Academy Honors Award for ‘Television with a Conscience’ and she has since directed episodes of ‘THE BLACKLIST’ (NBC), ‘SHOTS FIRED’ (FOX), ‘QUEEN OF THE SOUTH’ (USA), CLOAK & DAGGER (Marvel), ’SNEAKY PETE’ (Amazon), and ‘HOUSE OF CARDS’ (Netflix).

    In 2001, she directed the independent feature ‘MORNING’ which won several festival awards including Best Directorial Debut at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Grand Jury Award at the River Run International Film Festival and Gold Award for Best First Feature at the WorldFest Houston Film Festival.

    In 2011, she directed the indie feature ‘TEXAS KILLING FIELDS’ (Sam Worthington, Jessica Chastain, Chloe Moretz, Jeffrey Dean Morgan) which was nominated for the Golden Lion at the 68th Venice International Film Festival.

    In 2015, she wrote, directed and produced the indie feature ‘JACKIE & RYAN’ (Katherine Heigl, Ben Barnes) which was nominated for the Orizzonti at the 71st Venice International Film Festival.

    Most recently, Ami's Ep 1 and 2 of the Netflix series In From the Cold premiered January 28 and reached number 5 and number 2 in the US and the world, respectively. Starring Margarita Levieva (The Deuce) and written/produced by Adam Glass (The Chi), In From the Cold is a spy-fi thriller set in Madrid, Spain and period 90s Moscow.

  • Julia Fisher Farbman

    Producer/Writer

    Julia is an Emmy-nominated producer and writer, passionate about highlighting meaningful stories through film and TV. Julia co-created, hosted, and executive produced "Modern Hero" (seen on Amazon), an award-winning series that features female role models, including former First Lady Michelle Obama and healthcare hero, Dr. Audrey Evans (whose interview amassed 17M views across platforms). Julia has made a career of telling true stories, having interviewed notables such as His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, along with others. She has also produced original content honoring figureheads such as Malala Yousafzai, coordinated interviews across the United States, Canada, and England, and has led a crew in China for a multi-episode, multi-year ABC series.

    Julia has worked on live productions, productions at esteemed venues like the National Constitution Center, and produced the Emmy-nominated ABC special "Celebrate Equality: The Future of Women's Rights" in collaboration with U.N. Women.

    Julia is the writer/producer of “Audrey’s Children” inspired by the life of legendary pediatric oncologist and co-founder of Ronald McDonald House Charities, Dr. Audrey Evans.

  • Bradley Gallo

    Producer

    Bradley is a co-Founder and the President of Film & Television of Amasia Entertainment. He has over 20 years of media and entertainment industry experience including film, television, commercials and journalism. With Amasia he has produced several films including John Patrick Shanley’s WILD MOUNTAIN THYME starring Emily Blunt, Jamie Dornan, Jon Hamm and Christopher Walken.; the 2019 Sundance and SXSW selection THEM THAT FOLLOW starring Olivia Colman, Kaitlyn Dever, Alice Englert, Jim Gaffigan, Walton Goggins, Thomas Mann, and Lewis Pullman; MR. RIGHT starring Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick, directed by Paco Cabezas; and THE CALL starring Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin.

    Prior to Amasia Entertainment, Gallo served as the Head of Production and Development of Troika Pictures where he produced films such as THE ROAD WITHIN starring Zoe Kravitz, Dev Patel, and Robert Sheehan and CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR starring Nick Jonas.

    Bradley has a background in journalism, and before joining Troika he worked at CNN where he produced shows including on ANDERSON COOPER 360 and on AMERICAN MORNING, and was a reporter for CNN.com.

    He is a founding investor of GVNG, a technology company that allows users to create their own nonprofit in 60 seconds, and has served as Chairman of the Board of the non-profit Cody Foundation, helping kids through experiential learning.

    Bradley has a master’s degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, specializing in broadcast journalism and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Penn State University, with a minor in business. He lives with his wife in Santa Monica, CA but will always consider himself a native New Yorker.

  • Michael Helfant

    Producer

    Michael is the co-founder and CEO of Amasia Entertainment, and has over 35 years of entertainment industry experience. With Amasia, Michael has produced several films including John Patrick Shanley’s WILD MOUNTAIN THYME starring Emily Blunt, Jamie Dornan, Jon Hamm, and Christopher Walken; the 2019 Sundance and SXSW selection THEM THAT FOLLOW starring Olivia Colman, Kaitlyn Dever, Alice Englert, Jim Gaffigan, Walton Goggins, Thomas Mann, and Lewis Pullman; MR. RIGHT starring Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick, directed by Paco Cabezas; and THE CALL starring Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin.

    Prior to forming his own company, Michael was President/COO of Marvel Studios (2005-2007), overseeing live action and animation production, financing and distribution operations, including its $500M revolving credit facility and its global distribution arrangements with Paramount, and the launch of a new slate of Marvel self-financed films including IRON MAN and THE INCREDIBLE HULK.

    Previously, Michael served as COO of Beacon Pictures (2002-2005), an independent motion picture production company whose feature film releases included OPEN RANGE, RAISING HELEN, LADDER 49, THE GUARDIAN, and THE WATERHORSE. He led Beacon’s $250M revolving credit facility, and its integrated distribution arrangements with Disney, Warner Bros. and Summit Entertainment.

    As Senior EVP of Miramax/Dimension Films (1999-2002), Michael oversaw all business operations of Dimension Films, including the SPY KIDS, SCREAM, and the SCARY MOVIE film franchises. He launched the studio’s first interactive and merchandising divisions. As EVP, Head of Business Operations and Acquisitions at Interscope Communications/PolyGram Filmed Entertainment (1990-1999), Michael was instrumental in the sale and integration of Interscope as a PolyGram production label. He worked on film including THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE, MR. HOLLAND’S OPUS, JUMANJI, RUNAWAY BRIDE, WHAT DREAMS MAY COME, and PITCH BLACK.

    Prior to Interscope, Michael was SVP of Sovereign Pictures (1989-1990), an independent international production, financing, and distribution company, which distributed such films as REVERSAL OF FORTUNE, THE COMMITMENTS, MY LEFT FOOT, and CINEMA PARADISO.

    Michael began his professional career as an entertainment associate attorney at Loeb & Loeb. He is currently Of Counsel in Loeb and Loeb’s entertainment department. Michael has served as a Board Member of Film Independent, one of the leading non-profit organizations supporting independent film and filmmakers, for over 20 years. He is also a member of the UCLA Entertainment Symposium Advisory Committee.

  • Brent Emery

    Executive Producer

    Sundance award-winning producer Brent Emery brings over twenty years of international film strategy and business consulting experience to Resonate Entertainment. He has worked as an independent film finance, sales and production specialist at multiple executive posts, including U.S. Head of Co- Productions for ECI (a global entertainment company focused on Chinese Co- Productions) and Executive Vice President of Production and Development at Madonna and Guy Oseary’s Maverick Films.

    During his many years at Maverick Films, Emery oversaw development of over fifty studio and independent film and television projects and managed the deals of a dozen independent producers. Projects that emerged from Emery’s tenure include box office record breaking Twilight, which was eventually financed by Summit Entertainment, the hit film Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, and the young adult hit movies Agent Cody Banks I and II.

    Emery’s critically acclaimed 2015 film, The Stanford Prison Experiment, won the Alfred P. Sloan Award and Waldo Salt screenwriting award at The Sundance Film Festival. The Road Within, starring Kyra Sedgwick, produced by Emery and written and directed by Emery’s wife, Gren Wells, has garnered multiple international awards, including Best Youth Film at The Rome Film Festival.

    After producing Carrie Pilby with Suzanne Farwell and Susan Cartsonis, they went on to create Resonate Entertainment in 2016. In 2020, Emery was Executive Producer on the Sofia Carson starring Netflix film, Feel the Beat, the independent film, Dear Zoe (starring Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink), and, in 2021, Space Oddity (being directed by Kyra Sedgwick) alongside his partners in Resonate.

  • Susan Cartsonis

    Executive Producer

    The Hollywood Reporter named Susan Cartsonis one of the top five grossing producers of the year for What Women Want—the highest grossing romantic comedy of all time at the time of its release starring Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt—and Where the Heart Is starring Natalie Portman. She has produced hits including the Resonate/Netflix summer 2020 hit, Feel the Beat starring Sofia Carson, the highly rated Disney hit, Descendants (2019), Freaky Friday the Musical (2018), Deidra & Laney Rob a Train, (Sundance 2017), the hit film The DUFF (2016), Beastly, Middle School, Invisible Sister, and No Reservations and Aquamarine. Carrie Pilby, (Toronto Film Festival, 2016), was produced with Resonate partners Brent Emery and Suzanne Farwell.

    Cartsonis has just completed shooting the feature film True Spirit in Australia, for Netflix. True Spirit tells the true story of Jessica Watson’s circumnavigation of the globe at the age of 16 alone in a sailboat in 2010. The film will be released in late 2022 and stars Cliff Curtis and Anna Paquin.

    Prior to her producing career, Cartsonis was a studio executive at 20th Century Fox for nearly a decade, where she rose from script reader to Senior VP of Production by supervising over twenty films including Nell, French Kiss, The Truth About Cats and Dogs, For the Boys, Dying Young, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. At Fox she also supervised talent deals such as The Farrelly Brothers, Geena Davis, Richard Gere, and Johnny Depp.

    Cartsonis is a member of the Motion Picture Academy, the Television Academy and the Producer’s Guild. She serves on the board of the female screenwriter’s mentoring program founded by Meryl Streep and co-funded by Nicole Kidman and Oprah Winfrey, The Writer’s Lab. She also serves on the board of the non-profit screenwriters workshop, Cinestory, and teaches producing at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.

  • Suzanne Farwell

    Executive Producer

    Longtime collaborator of writer/director Nancy Meyers, Suzanne Farwell has produced some of the most commercially successful comedies in recent history and has worked with many of the industry’s most recognized and sought-after talent.

    With early training at The William Morris Agency, Farwell began her production career on the set of Walt Disney Pictures’ remake of The Parent Trap. As President of Waverly Films at Sony Pictures Entertainment, Farwell co-produced the 2003 critically-acclaimed box office success Something’s Gotta Give (starring Academy Award winners Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton) and was Executive Producer on the 2006 worldwide box-office hit The Holiday (starring Academy Award winner Kate Winslet, Academy Award nominee Jude Law and Golden Globe nominees Cameron Diaz and Jack Black) for the studio. In 2009, Farwell went on to executive produce It’s Complicated (starring Academy Award winners Meryl Streep and Steve Martin and Emmy Award winner Alec Baldwin). In 2015, Farwell produced The Intern (starring Academy Award winners Robert DeNiro and Anne Hathaway) for Warner Bros. Pictures.

    Farwell produced the 2017 independent feature film Carrie Pilby, starring Bel Powley, Nathan Lane, Gabriel Byrne, Jason Ritter and Vanessa Bayer. Carrie Pilby premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival and was released theatrically by The Orchard and on Netflix in 2017.

    In 2016, Farwell founded Resonate Entertainment with Susan Cartsonis and Brent Emery, her producing partners on Carrie Pilby. In 2020, Farwell was Executive Producer on the hit Netflix original film Feel the Beat starring Sofia Carson and on the Disney Channel Original Movie Upside Down Magic, both under the Resonate banner. Most recently, Farwell was Executive Producer on Zombies 3, the third and final movie in Disney Channel’s hit musical franchise. Farwell has a B.A. from Florida State University and an M.A. from Pepperdine University.

  • Clément Bauer

    Co-Producer

    Clément began his career at Chelsea Pictures, working in commercial production with clients such as Toyota, Nike and Sprint. He then moved to short form and unscripted production for a number of platforms and cable networks including Verizon Go90, TruTV, Nickelodeon and MTV.

    Clément later transitioned to longform projects, working on Netflix originals Deidra & Laney Rob a Train, which premiered at Sundance 2017 and The Struggle, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, chronicling the life of Stanislaw Szukalski.

    Clément worked as an Associate Producer on the Netflix Original Feel The Beat, which was released on June 19, 2020. He just wrapped in Australia as the Co-Producer of the Netflix Original Film True Spirit directed by Sarah Spillane (Around the Block) and starring Teagan Croft, Anna Paquin, Josh Lawson and Cliff Curtis.

    Clément joined Resonate Entertainment in 2017 and currently serves as the company’s Creative Executive.

  • Paul Thompson

    Consulting Producer

    Born in England, he worked extensively as a writer, director, actor, and teacher. As a writer, his work has been performed by the National Youth Theatre in England, the Half Moon Theatre, The Royal Shakespeare Company and The National Theatre, as well as in Germany, Hungary, Sweden, Canada, the USA and Australia. His published plays include The Children's Crusade, The Motor Show, By Common Consent and The Lorenzaccio Story. He was resident dramatist with the Royal Shakespeare Company and with the The National Theatre. He has also written for BBC Television, BBC Radio and feature films. He worked as a screenwriter on location for Lion of the Desert (feature film starring Anthony Quinn). He has directed at numerous theaters in England, Australia, and the United States.

    Paul is an Associate Professor of Film and Television at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. Paul’s previous academic positions include Lecturer in Playwriting at the City Literary Institute, London (1978-84), Director of the Theatre School, Morley College (1978-84), Lecturer in Acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London (1981-84), Head of Directing and Director of the Playwrights' Studio, National Institute of Dramatic Art, Sydney (1984-86). Head of Scriptwriting at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (1987-93) and Head of Film and Television at the AFTRS (1993-97). He has presented guest lectures and workshops at several leading academic institutions including USC, NYU, Yale, Temple University, UCLA, the London Institute, CEEA Paris, and the International Institute for the Performing Arts,Paris.
